2006 will mark the 49th annual IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference. GLOBECOM 2006 is sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society, IEEE San Francisco Section, and the IEEE Region VI. The San Francisco area is a major center for the global telecommunications industry and serves as home to many of the largest corporations and also a large number of smaller firms in this industry.

The theme of IEEE GLOBECOM 2006 "Communications: The Global Bridge" characterizes the continuing pervasiveness of telecommunications in all aspects of global society, industry, and government. The technical program of IEEE GLOBECOM 2006 will consists of the General Conference focusing on Emerging Technologies and 15 Technical Symposia. The General Conference will only accept papers on topics not covered by other symposia listed below:

In addition, we will feature three keynote presentations by leaders of our industry, a full tutorial and workshop program, targeted programs. A "Designers & Developers Forum" and a "Telecom Business Forum" will include papers, panels and the Expo will consist of products that design and development engineers use in their activity on new products.
